Memorial day

I went to the Christchurch Earthquake Memorial. It was fun but very hot. There were balloons and big screens. We saw Prince William and Bob Parker.
There was jazz music and a movie by Bob Parker about the 6.3 Earthquake 22 February.
Police were looking after people

The large crowd. WOW!!!

On Wednesday it's Wheels day. You can bring your bike or your scooter or maybe your skateboard,  your roller blades, your rip sticks or your remote control cars.

Shared Lunch

What a great way to start the return to school by sharing a great lunch with our buddy class Room 9.

Kia ora for all the  kai.

A nice, calm relaxing way to settle back into school. (And no one noticed the little shake at lunchtime!)

All go!!!

Wairakei is open tomorrow the 9th March. Starting at 8:50. Bring your boiled water!!!!!!

Monday, March 7, 2011

We're almost back!

Hey there Room 5ers. Where have you all been? I've been up in Rangiora staying with my mum. It was great to be amongst family and have a good nights sleep and not have to boil water.

Post a comment and tell us what you have been up to. (You'll need to sign up as a follower to do this!)

The good news is I was in school today and it's looking great. Our good ol' wooden school has stood up well and our magnificent field, that looked after us 2 weeks ago, has no liquefaction. Builders are in doing minor repairs tomorrow and if Civil Defence gives the all ok, Wairakei will be open for business on Wednesday 9th March.

If Civil Defence gives clearance, the school will start at the normal time of 8:50 on Wednesday. At 8:45 there will be a coffee brewing for parents in the lounge room next to the office. All parents and caregivers welcome.

We must all bring a bottle of boiled water, that has been boiled for at least 3 mins, to school. This is important as the chlorine will not kill all the bugs. The water at school, like the rest of Christchurch,  cannot be drunk.

We're also having a shared lunch at 12:30 where parents and caregivers can come and eat with us. We will also be eating with our buddy class, Room 9.

You will receive a text and/or email from the school confirming the opening of the school so fingers crossed I'll see you Wednesday.

Be prepared. Make your lunch, get your water ready and have a good nights sleep!
