Dear Olly

Room 5 have just finished reading Dear Olly by Michael Morpurgo. A brilliant read that almost made Mr Lynch cry!
This week in reading we will be learning and using the comprehension strategy of visualisation with this text.

Wairakei Cross Country Team

Last Wednesday Tom, Fiona, Luke, Lillie and Joe represented the school at the Central Zones Cross Country held at Halswell Quarry.
It was a very successful day with Tom winning the 10 year boys race. The other team members finished commendably in the middle of the field with Fiona a creditable 22nd.
Well done all of you and good luck Tom in the regionals.

The SBS Christchurch Marathon

Room 5 Running legend Lucy ran the 2.5 km children's marafun at the SBS Christchurch Marathon on Sunday. She ran a personal best, 7 minutes faster than last year! Well done Lucy. All that fitness has seen great achievement.
